GOING TO OUESSANT
Video on the island
Organized by Finis terrae association
11 and 12 October 2008
Marcel Dinahet invites us on his favourite terrain: the littoral, this frontier that he explores with a video camera. As a teacher at Rennes' fine art school, he regularly brought a group of students on the Ouessant island (Ushant) : a displacement from central Britanny to its periphery, at the outermost bounds of western Europe, an immersion in a land with a very marked identity. The association Finis terrae continues this experience by a week-end of video art programming, a workshop with art students and an artist residency.
The association takes its name from the film "Finis terrae" by Jean Epstein who, from the 1920's, was inspired by the Britanny islands, and notably Ouessant, to produce his avant-garde films that marked the history of cinema.
